Note.
- Necessary special devices, control and measuring devices, as well as auxiliary means:
- Device for holding the brake pedal while bleeding the hydraulic drive system, e.g. -VAG 1869/2-.
Removing
Note. This working method only applies to the replacement or subsequent repair work on the disc brake caliper.
1. Remove the wheels.
2. Using a screwdriver like a lever, remove the friction lining retaining spring from the disc wheel brake caliper housing and remove it.
3. Disconnect the plug connector for the brake lining wear limit indicator.
4. Place the bleed tube of the bleeder vessel onto the bleed valve of the disc brake caliper and open the bleed valve.
5. To establish the adaptation for deduction of a pedal of a brake, eg. -VAG 1869/2-.
6. After closing the bleed valve, remove the bleed vessel.
7. Unscrew the brake hose.
8. To remove both caps from cases of a support of the disk wheel brake mechanism.
9. Having released both guide trunnions, remove them from the disc wheel brake caliper.
10. Remove the disc wheel brake caliper from the disc wheel brake caliper caliper support.
11. Remove the friction linings from the disc wheel brake caliper.
Installation
Note.
- The piston is pressed back.
- The outer friction segment sits on the caliper support of the disc wheel brake caliper.
1. Install the inner friction lining together with the retaining spring into the disc wheel brake caliper (piston).
Note.
- When installing the disc brake caliper, make sure that the friction lining does not stick to the disc brake caliper before the correct assembly position is reached.
- Do not damage the sticking surface.
2. Screw the disc brake caliper onto the caliper support with both guide pins.
3. Put on both caps.
4. Screw the brake hose onto the disc brake caliper.
5. Remove the tool for holding the brake pedal, eg. -VAG 1869/2-.
6. Insert the retaining spring into the disc wheel brake caliper housing.
7. Connect the plug connector for the brake lining wear limit indicator.
8. Remove air from the brake system.
9. Install wheels.
Note.
- While the vehicle is stationary, firmly press the brake pedal so that the friction linings fall into their working position.
- Check brake fluid level.
