Removing
1. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the rear wheel.
2. Release the parking brake.
3. Remove the brake drum.
4. Move the parking brake lever (A) back to working position using a special tool (3438), as shown in the figure below.
5. Using a special tool (3438), remove the lower brake shoe return spring as shown in the figure below.
6. Remove the fastening collar and remove the installation pin in the direction of the arrow, as shown in the figure below.
7. Carefully spread the brake pads and disconnect in the direction of arrow B the expansion rod from the front brake pad, as shown in the figure below.
Attention. Be extremely careful when removing the brake pads to prevent damage to the sealing collar of the working brake cylinder.
8. Disconnect in the direction of arrow A the expansion rod from the brake shoe with the parking brake lever, as shown in the figure below.
9. Disconnect and remove the upper brake shoe return spring.
10. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake shoe lever.
11. Remove the fastening clamp and the adjusting pin of the brake shoe with the parking brake lever.
12. Remove the brake pads.
Installation
1. Apply special lubricant to the brake shield, in the places indicated by the arrows in the figure. Use special lubricant G 000 650.
2. Install the rear brake shoe on the brake shield. Then, using a special tool (Т30114), install the fixing collar of the attachment and the installation pin as shown in the figure below.
3. Install the upper return spring as shown in the figure below.
4. Install the dowel pin and secure the front brake shoe clamp using the tool as shown in the figure above.
5. Using a special tool (3438), install the lower brake shoe return spring as shown in the figure below.
6. Rotate to reduce the expansion rod to the minimum size.
Note. Do not overtighten the expansion rod as this may damage the automatic regulator.
7. Using a special tool (Т30115), compress the brake pads as shown in the figure below.
8. First of all, install the expansion rod of the automatic regulator on the brake shoe with the parking brake lever, in the direction of arrow A, as shown in the figure below.
9. Install the expansion rod of the self-adjuster on the front brake shoe, in the direction of arrow B, as shown in the figure below.
10. Using a special tool (Т30115), recompress the brake pads so that the distance «A» was equal to 227.8 mm, as shown in the figure below.
11. Clean the contact surface of the wheel hub with the brake drum. Apply a special anti-corrosion agent to this surface (AKR 322 000).
12. Clean the center hole of the brake drum and apply a special anti-corrosion agent to its surface (AKR 322 000).
Note. Avoid getting anti-corrosion agent on the threaded part of the wheel bolts.
13. Install the brake drum.
14. Fully depress the brake pedal several times to adjust the clearance in the brake shoes.
15. Install the rear wheel assembly.
