On a car with a spare tire

  • Place the removed wheel in the luggage compartment niche and secure it with a wing nut.
  • If possible, check the tightness of the wheel bolts with a torque wrench as soon as possible.
  • Have the faulty wheel repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

On a car with a tire repair kit

  • Place the tire repair kit in the luggage compartment.
  • If the faulty tyre has been sealed with a puncture repair kit, check the pressure in that tyre after driving for ten minutes.
  • A tire sealed in this way can no longer be used and must be replaced.

Note
  • If possible, have the tightening torque of the wheel bolts checked at a workshop using a torque wrench: it should be 120 Nm for steel and alloy wheels.
  • If, when replacing a wheel, it is discovered that the wheel bolts are corroded and are difficult to unscrew and screw in, then they should be replaced and the threaded holes in the hub should be cleaned before checking the tightening torque.
  • On vehicles with a tire pressure drop warning system (optional), the system must be initialized after changing a wheel.
