7. Before starting this procedure, prepare all the necessary tools and materials (photo), as well as clean rags and newspapers. Ideally, the engine oil should be warmed up beforehand, it will drain better and wash out the sediment. Do not touch the exhaust system or any other hot engine parts. Wear waterproof gloves when doing this work. Access to the underside of the vehicle will be improved if the vehicle is raised, placed on a flyover, or jacked up. Regardless of the method chosen, make sure the vehicle is level or that the drain plug is (on the back of the tray) located at the lowest point.
8. Remove the engine bottom shield. by unscrewing the six fixing screws (photo).
9. Using a wrench or suitable socket, loosen the drain plug a half turn. Place the container under the stopper, then remove the stopper completely. If possible, try to hold the plug on the last couple of turns before removing. When the plug is free, move it sharply to the side so that the flow of oil from the sump does not get on your hand! (photo).
10. Wait a while for the old oil to drain into a container.
11. Examine the drain plug with a clean rag and, if necessary, replace the sealing washer. Clean the area around the hole and replace the plug. Tighten the plug with the tightening force specified in the Specifications.
12. Move the container under the oil filter, which is located on the wall of the cylinder block, below the fuel priming pump.
13. Use the special tool to loosen the filter, then unscrew it by hand (photo). Drain the oil from the filter into a container.
14. Using a clean rag, wipe the filter seal areas on the engine of oil, dirt, and sediment. Check that the rubber O-ring of the old filter does not remain stuck to the engine.
15. Coat the O-ring on the new filter with clean engine oil (photo), then screw the filter into position on the engine. Clamp the filter BY MANUALLY.
16. Remove all tools from under the vehicle, install the engine undershield, then lower the vehicle to the ground.
17. Remove the oil fill plug, and fill the engine with the correct grade and type of oil as described earlier in this Chapter. First pour half the indicated amount of oil, then wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the sump. Continue adding oil little by little until the level reaches the lower mark on the dipstick.
18. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes while checking for leaks around the oil filter seal and pan drain plug.
19. Stop the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the sump. Now check the level again and add oil as needed.
20. Dispose of used engine oil properly so as not to harm the environment.
