Removing
1. To remove a forward left wheel, having unscrewed bolts of its fastening.
2. Remove the lower engine guard.
3. Remove wheel arch liner (wings) left front wheel (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Body).
4. To establish a steering wheel against the stop to the left.
5. Disconnect the drive shaft from the gearbox flange shaft.
6. Loosen the fastening nuts (arrows) the lower left arm of the front suspension to the ball joint, as shown in the figure below.
7. Loosen the fastening nut (1) racks (3) to the anti-roll bar as shown in the figure below. Disconnect the strut from the stabilizer. Repeat this operation on the other side.
8. Having disconnected the rack from the anti-roll bar, rotate the stabilizer (2) upward direction.
9. Fold out the wheel bearing housing cover to the left.
10. Drive the drive shaft into the wheel arch and hang it with a piece of wire on the shock absorber strut. Do not damage the protective paintwork on the drive shaft.
11. Place a special bath under the gearbox to collect combustibles and lubricants.
12. Unscrew the flange shaft fastening screw, for this purpose it is necessary to screw two screws into the flange and hold the flange shaft with the assembly lever, as shown in the figure below.
13. Remove the flanged shaft including spring.
14. Remove the flange shaft seal with a universal tool (MPZ-419 (VW 771)) and puller (MPZ-419/37 (VW 771/37)), as shown in the figure below.
Installation
1. Press in a new seal (stuffing box) all the way. Make sure that the ring is not twisted, as shown in the figure below.
2. Fill the space between the working edges up to half with sealing grease 9G 052 128 A1).
3. Install the flanged shaft into the gearbox assembly. The flanged shaft should be attached with a cone head screw and tightened with the appropriate tightening torque.
4. Connect the drive shaft to the flange.
5. Connect the stabilizer bar to the anti-roll bar. Install and tighten the fastening nuts to the required torque.
6. Check the gear oil level and, if necessary, add it to the lower edge of the filler hole.
7. Install fender liner (lining) wheel arch of the left wheel (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Body).
8. Install the lower engine cover.
9. To establish a forward left wheel, to establish and tighten bolts of its fastening with the demanded moment of an inhaling.
