Removal
1. Remove the rear wheel assembly.
2. Using special mounting tapes "T10038", fix the car on the lift supports, as shown in the figure below.
3. Remove the rear wheel arch liner (for more details, see the corresponding section in the chapter "Body").

Models with a height sensor
4. Unscrew the mounting bolts (1) shown in the figure below.
5. Remove the rear left vehicle height sensor mounting bracket (2) as shown in the figure below.

Models with adaptive suspension
6. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) from the rear shock absorber (2) as shown in the figure below.
7. Disconnect the wiring harness (3) from the shock absorber (2) (arrow).

Continued for all models
8. Install a special jack "VAG 1383/A" under the lower arm of the rear suspension and load it so that the shock absorber is compressed.
9. Unscrew the bolts (1) securing the shock absorber to the body mudguard (2), as shown in the figure below.

10. Drill out the rivets (1) shown in the figure below.
11. Unscrew the fastening screws (2) of the spring protection (3).
12. Remove the stone guard (3) from the rear suspension lower arm (4) as shown in the figure below.

13. Loosen the fastening nut (1) and remove the bolt (2) shown in the figure below.
14. Remove the shock absorber assembly.

Installation
15. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
