Drive shaft — design description


1. Outer constant velocity joint: replaceable as an assembly only; remove. Press in until it stops with a plastic hammer; distribute the grease evenly over the joint

2. Bolt, 200 Nm and turn 180°: replace after each removal; before screwing in, clean the threads in the drive shaft

3. Pitch shaft

4. Clamp: replace after each removal

5. Dust cover: material: Hytrel (polyelastomer); check for cracks and abrasion

6. Clamp: replace after each removal

7. Elastic washer: with internal splines

8. Retaining ring: replace after each removal

9. Inner CV joint boot: without ventilation hole; check for cracks and abrasion; remove from the hinge using a punch; before installing on the CV joint, apply "D 454 300 A2" to the mating surface

10. Clamp: replace after each removal

11. Lining

12. Bolt, 20 Nm and turn 180° further: first tighten all bolts crosswise to 10 Nm; replace after each removal; M8x48

13. Overlay: replace after each removal; take off

14. Retaining ring: replace after each removal

15. Seal: the CV joint surface to which the casing is glued must be degreased and replaced after each removal



16. Inner CV joint: can only be replaced as a complete unit; distribute the grease evenly over the joint

17. Elastic washer: with internal splines
