Attention. Batteries with a colorless or light yellow eye should not be monitored or charged. These batteries need to be replaced.
Current consumption monitoring must always be carried out if the VAS 5097A battery tester with printer indicates the following results:
- 1 - starter power sufficient
- 2 - starter power is bad
- 3 - starter power is very poor
- 4 - not checked (the device does not turn on, the LED does not light up, it does not print)
Note.
- The battery temperature during charging must be at least 10°C.
- Use manufacturer-recommended chargers capable of delivering a charging current of at least 30 A (e.g. -VAS 5900-, -VAS 5903-, -VAS 5095A-).
- If the charger does not directly indicate the amount of charging current (e.g. -VAS 5095A-), then the charging current must be measured with a clamp meter, e.g. - VAS 5051B/7-.
1. Connect the battery to the charger and start the charging process.
2. After five minutes, you should read on the charger or measure the charging current of the battery with an electrical clamp.
3. Five minutes after the start of charging, the charging current should exceed 10% of the rated capacity. If the charging current is lower than 10% of the rated capacity five minutes after the start of charging, the battery should be replaced
For example:
The charging current of a battery of 60 Ah should after 5 minutes. after the start of charging, exceed 6 A. If this condition is met, you should continue charging and two hours after the completion of charging, when the battery is not loaded with electrical consumers, you should again measure the voltage under current load.
