Note. In case of failure of the fuel pump, it is necessary to extract the fuel using a fuel suction device (VAS 5190).
Note. Observe the rules of cleanliness when working on the fuel supply or fuel injection system.
1. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Body).
Attention. Pressurized fuel supply line. Before disconnecting the fuel hoses, cover the connection point with a clean rag. Then release the pressure by carefully disconnecting the connection.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) and black fuel line (2), as shown in the picture below
Note. To unlock the wires, press the retaining ring.
3. Connect adapters -VAG 1318/16- and -VAG 1318/17- together and connect the resulting «fuel extraction line» to the fuel filler neck.
4. Invest «fuel extraction line» into a suitable fuel container.
5. Auxiliary wires (A) From the measuring tool set -VAG 1594/C-, connect the battery to the contacts of the fuel pump as follows:
- Positive battery terminal (+) - to contact (1) fuel pump.
- Negative battery terminal (-) - to contact (5) fuel pump.
6. The fuel pump works, pumping out fuel.
Attention. In order to prevent overfilling of fuel in the event of an insufficiently large fuel container, the pump must not be allowed to run unsupervised.
