Windshield — removal and installation (Skoda Kodiaq NS7)

Removal

1. Remove the front body pillar trim panel (on both sides) (for more details, see the relevant section in this chapter).

2. Remove both sun visors.

3. Remove the interior rearview mirror.

4. The roof trim panel must be released from its clips and lowered enough to allow sufficient access to remove the windshield adhesive.

5. Remove the air intake cover of the ventilation and air conditioning system on the body crossmember.

6. Place the special protective covering (1) on the dashboard, as shown in the figure below.

7. Pull the end of the special cord (2) through the windshield sealing material into the vehicle interior, as shown in the figure below.



8. Fix one end of the cord on the special handle (3), as shown in the figure below.

9. Insert the cord (2) using the tube (1) into the windshield frame as shown in the figure below.

10. Place the cord around the windshield.

11. Make sure to pull the cord along the corners under the windshield.



12. Connect the second end of the cord to a special device - a spooler - (VAG1654A), as shown in the figure below.

13. Set the spooler to position "I" as shown in the figure below.

14. Move the spooler sequentially as shown in the figure below, cutting through the adhesive joint of the windshield.

15. When performing the operation of cutting the adhesive joint of the windshield, place plastic corners under the released sections of the windshield to create a gap between the glass and the dashboard.



16. Remove the windshield assembly from the body opening together with an assistant.

Installation

• Prepare the windshield for installation (for more details, see the relevant section in this chapter).
• Prepare an opening in the body for the windshield (for more details, see the relevant section in this chapter).
• Install the windshield.
• Allow the windshield to sit for the recommended amount of time after installation before driving.

Note: A second mechanic will be required to perform this operation.

Note:

• Use the original urethane adhesive kit (if available) or equivalent.
• Follow the enclosed instructions for use.
• While the urethane adhesive is drying, open the door windows. Thanks to this, the pressure outside and inside the car's interior will be equalized, and the glued glass will remain in the same position in which it was installed.
• Install the rear window molding without gaps or distortions.
• Do not drive the vehicle for 24 hours after installing the rear window until the urethane adhesive has completely dried. Drying time may vary depending on temperature and humidity of the environment.

Attention:

• Primer and glue are flammable, do not use them near open flames or heating devices.
• The materials included in the kit are toxic. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or esophagus.
• Use glue and primers in an open, well-ventilated area. Avoid inhalation of vapors. If vapors are inhaled accidentally, move immediately to fresh air.
• Driving your vehicle before the urethane adhesive has completely cured may result in damage to your windshield in the event of an accident.
• Carefully read the glue production date indicated on the packaging. The shelf life of glass glue is limited to six months from the date of manufacture. Do not use expired glue.
• Store adhesives and primers in a cool, dry place, ideally in the refrigerator.
• Open the packaging with glue or primer immediately before use. Do not store any adhesive or primer remaining in the packaging after use.
• Do not leave primer or adhesive in an open container.

Do not drive the vehicle for 24 hours after installing the windshield until the urethane adhesive has completely dried. Drying time may vary depending on temperature and humidity of the environment.
