In accordance with international regulations, the manufacturer installs safety glass on Skoda Octavia vehicles.
The front (windshield) glass is laminated (glued) with a thickness of 4.8±0.3 mm. In the lower left corner of the glass there is a manufacturer's marking, homologation marking and numbers of authorized testing laboratories.

Black ceramic mass with a transition raster is sprayed along the entire contour of the glass. The black spraying protects the adhesive mastic from the effects of ultraviolet radiation (mastic should not be exposed to ultraviolet light) and at the same time carries an aesthetic load - it covers the internal structure of the body along the window contour. In the black strip at the bottom of the glass there are two round white places indicating the correct position of the brushes when they are installed.
The glass is supplied from the manufacturer with a U-shaped rubber profile on the upper edge and a polyurethane profile along the entire contour of the back side of the glass.
The polyurethane profile simultaneously holds the rubber profile on the upper edge. On the sides there is an extended roof strip profile with sealing tongues - a strip for retaining water. It is inserted into the clamps on the body frame. When installing the glass (gluing), wedges are placed in its lower part, which remain in the car and are hidden by a plastic covering of the space between the windshield and the rear edge of the hood. The wedges prevent the glass from sliding down during the hardening of the adhesive mastic.
Before applying the glass to the window frame, adhesive mastic is applied to the polyurethane contour profile and only then is the glass pressed. The bracket for the interior rear-view mirror is glued to the windshield glass with polyurethane mastic at the manufacturer.
