Cutting off the adhesive layer

Note:
  • When reinstalling undamaged glass, shortly before gluing it, cut off the remaining adhesive sealant to a thickness of 1...2 mm.
  • In this case, do not allow damage to the soil and ceramic layer.
  • The remainder of the product serves as a bonding base for the newly applied adhesive sealant.
  • Perform the tasks below.

1. Cut off the adhesive layer around the perimeter using an electric cutter -VAG 1561 A- and a knife "VAG 1561/8".

2. Make sure that when cutting off the adhesive layer "1", the edge of the seal "2" and the ceramic coating are not damaged.

Caution: Do not apply primer or treat the surface to be bonded with cleaning solution. Protect the bonding surface from dirt and grease.

Exception: if the glass is not glued immediately after cutting, then the remaining adhesive must be treated with activator -D181801A1-.

Preparing new glass without pre-coating the bush

Note: All glass supplied by the parts service is uncoated.

Note:
  • The areas where the glue is applied are not coated or primed.
  • The sealing lip is part of the new windshield.
  • Perform the work described below.

Information published on the website: SkodaBook.ru

1. Clean a 20 mm wide strip from the edge of the glass along the entire perimeter using cleaner -D 009 401 04-.

2. Then wipe the edge of the glass dry with a lint-free cloth.

Important: Do not confuse the ceramic layer with the primer layer! Before applying the adhesive/sealant, be sure to apply a primer to the glass! Use only primer D 009 20002!

3. Apply primer -D 009 200 02- "4" evenly in one motion using swab -D 009 500 25- "3" onto the previously cleaned surface "1" of the glass. Drying time is approximately 10 minutes.

3. Apply primer -D 009 200 02- «4» evenly in one…

Preparing the body opening edge for glazing

1. Cut off the old material from the opening flanging using a U-shaped knife "VAG 1561/3", without completely removing all the remains.

Note: The remaining product serves as a bonding base for the new adhesive/sealant being applied. Protect the surfaces being bonded from dirt and grease.

Attention:
  • The activator should not come into contact with the paintwork, as this will cause damage to the paintwork.
  • Exception: if the glass is not glued immediately after cutting, then the remaining adhesive must be treated with activator -D181801A1-.
  • If the edge of the body opening has been treated or partially renewed, then after varnishing it is necessary to clean it again and apply primer to the corresponding areas.

If the edge of the body opening has been treated…

Note: In some cases, the laser weld seam may be located outside the adhesive application area. In this case, the open seam from the laser welding must be sealed with glass adhesive before gluing the glass.

2. If the laser weld seam "3" on the flange "4" is not covered by the existing adhesive bead "1", treat this seam -3- with primer -D 009 200 02- "3".

3. Then fill the laser welding seam with glass glue -DH 009100 A2- -1.

3. Then fill the laser welding seam with glass…
