Installing the engine compartment lid lock and fuse
1 – Engine compartment lid lock; 2 – control rod of the lock safety catch; 3 – traction (flexible sheathed cable) castle; 4 – front wall (middle part)
The engine compartment lid lock is of the SAFE type. It is located on the front cross wall in the middle. Its latch is part of the lid (hood). The separate lock is oriented vertically and is simultaneously connected to the safety device, which, when the lid is not tightly closed, (in an unlocked lock) prevents spontaneous opening. The separate lock is controlled - cocked - by a cable that runs through a flexible sheath from the lock into the cabin on the left under the instrument panel, where the control lever is located.
When the hood is opened, the lock is released by means of a pull rod from the cabin (the hood is half open). The safety catch, controlled by a lever transmission, is cocked by a rod located under the radiator grille within easy reach of the hand.
