Welded front wall
1 - radiator bracket (used only when mounting a small radiator);
2 - front wall
The front wall of the body is structurally solved in general differently from all previous types of Skoda cars - it is an independent assembly unit. It is inserted and screwed to the front of the side members of the body frame. Taking into account the concept of car assembly technology, the front cross wall is assembled with all sub-assemblies in advance at its own workplace and is inserted into the car and fixed as "assembled - installed". The front transverse wall assembly consists of: the front transverse wall, steel stiffeners of the front bumper, the plastic part of the bumper, the hood lock with a fuse, the headlights with brackets for the front turn lamps, the radiator assembly, and other parts according to the modification of the car and its equipment (for example, an air conditioner radiator, etc.).
The kit is mounted on the spars in the upper part with two M6 bolts on each side and two M8 bolts (with hexagon head) in the lower part. The other two bolts on each side of the transverse wall are connected on the sides with the wings and a plastic bumper. Knot front (except for headlights and directional lights) covered with a cover of the engine compartment and a radiator lining mounted on it. Although the front bumper, headlights and radiator are front crosswall assembly sub-assemblies, they are described in the chapters to which they are related (see subsection 2.30, subsection 2.53, subsection 7.2).
The front wall of the body is a rigid welded part of a relatively complex stamping with several stiffening ribs and brackets. The assembly is made of 1 and 1.25 mm thick galvanized sheets on both sides, the surface of which is protected by electrophoresis black paint.
