Loosen the drive shaft mounting bolt to the hub. Remove the wheel. On vehicles with automatic headlight range control, disconnect the front left ground clearance sensor rod "G78" from the left suspension arm. Loosen the "arrow" nuts. Pull the drive shaft out of the wheel hub a little. Remove the ball joint from the wishbone. Bend the wishbone down as far as necessary. Loosen the ball joint mounting nuts and loosen them a little. Install the "3287A" ball joint puller as shown in the figure and press out the ball joint.

Note: When pressing out the joint, be aware of the risk of accidents: when releasing the joint pin, the ball joint puller "3287A" may fall, so place a board under the engine and gearbox lift, e.g. "V.A.G 1383A". To protect the thread, do not unscrew the ball joint nut completely, only so that the puller "3287A" can be installed.

Installation

Insert the ball joint pin into the hole in the steering knuckle. Observe the correct installation position. Screw in and tighten the new self-locking nut of the ball joint. Insert the drive shaft back into the hub. Tighten the nuts "arrows".
