Attention! Risk of destruction of valves and pistons when the toothed belt jumps. Rotate the crankshaft only in the direction of engine rotation.
Rotate the crankshaft by the toothed pulley mounting bolt, set the camshaft with a toothed belt to the "TDC" position". Lock the camshaft hub with the lock for diesel injection pump -3359- by inserting the lock into the fork of the driver -2-camshaft and the hole -1- located behind it in the cylinder head.
Loosen the locking screw -1- in the camshaft sprocket by half a turn, but do not unscrew it completely. -Position 2- ignore.
Secure crankshaft sprocket with crankshaft lock -T10490-. The pins of the crankshaft lock -T10490- must engage in the threaded holes in the toothed pulley. Retainer of crankshaft lock -T10490- must engage in hole in crankshaft cover.
Attention! Risk of engine damage! When loosening the camshaft sprocket bolt, never use the diesel injection pump retainer -3359- as a stop.
Remove the retainer and partially loosen the camshaft timing gear bolts. Before completely unscrewing the bolts, insert the retainer back.
Loosen bolt -arrow- for camshaft sprocket using stop -T10172- with adapters -T10172/11-.
Lock the hub of the injection pump with the lock -T10492-, to do this insert the lock into the fork of the driver -2- of the hub and the hole -1- located behind it in the bracket of the mounted units. Remove the retainer and partially loosen the nuts securing the toothed pulley of the injection pump. Before completely unscrewing the bolts, insert the retainer back.
Slacken nut -arrow- of injection pump sprocket by approx. 90°using stop -T10051-.
Loosen nut -1- for tensioning roller. Turn the eccentric of the tensioning roller anti-clockwise with the angle screwdriver -T10264- -arrow- until the tensioning roller can be secured with the locking pin -T10265-.
Using an angled screwdriver -T10264-, turn the eccentric of the tensioning roller clockwise -arrow- as far as it will go and tighten the nut -1- by hand.
Attention. Reversing the running direction of a used toothed belt can lead to its destruction. Before removing the toothed belt, mark the direction of the belt with chalk or a felt-tip pen for reinstallation.
Remove the toothed belt first from the coolant pump pulley and then from the other toothed pulleys.
