Note: To carry out adjustment work on the toothed belt, the engine must be cold.
Attention! Risk of damage to valves and piston crowns. When turning the camshaft, no piston should be in the "TDC" position".
Conditions
The tensioning pulley is locked in the rightmost position with locking pin -T10265- and nut -1-. The protrusion of the tensioning roller -arrow- must fit into the molded recess in the cylinder head.
The camshaft hub is secured with the injection pump retainer -3359-. The screw is in but not tightened. The camshaft sprocket must be tightened enough so that it can still be turned, but so that it is no longer «staggered».
The locking screw -1- of the driver is loosened by half a turn, it is in the middle position in the oval hole -2-.
Crankshaft secured with crankshaft lock -T10490-.
The hub of the injection pump is secured with the locking pin -T10492-. The nut is screwed on but not tightened. The injection pump sprocket must be tightened so that it can still be turned, but so that it no longer «staggered».
Turn the camshaft sprocket and the injection pump sprocket in the oval grooves clockwise to the stop. Install the toothed belt in the following sequence.
1. Crankshaft pulley
2. Tension roller
3. Camshaft pulley
4. Toothed pulley injection pump
5. Coolant pump sprocket
Loosen nut -1- for tensioning roller and remove retainer -T10265-.
Note: Lug of tensioning roller arrow must fit into molded recess in cylinder head. - Arrow - ignore. Locking bolt -1- after tightening the camshaft sprocket must not come into contact with the lower protrusion -2- of the oval hole.
Check that the locking bolt -1- is between the center of the oval hole and the lower lug -2-, if necessary move the position of the camshaft pulley one tooth clockwise and reinstall the toothed belt. Carefully turn the eccentric of the tensioning roller clockwise with the angle screwdriver -T10264- -arrow- until the pointer -2- is in the middle of the hole in the base. Nut -1- must not turn with it. Hold the tension roller in this position and tighten the nut.
Insert stop -T10172- with adapters -T10172/11- into camshaft sprocket as shown. Press the stop in an anti-clockwise direction -arrow- and hold firmly. In this position, tighten bolt -1- for camshaft sprocket and nut -2- for injection pump sprocket. Tightening torque: 10 Nm.
Note: The injection pump pulley has a limited range of rotation. Therefore, it is imperative to check whether the pulley is not in the end position after the belt is tensioned.
Make sure that the mark on the injection pump pulley does not match the position of the lock. If necessary, move the injection pump pulley clockwise by one tooth and reinstall the toothed belt on it. Remove locks -3359-, -T10492- and crankshaft lock -T10490- and check timing.
