Attention! Danger of destroying the engine when the toothed belt jumps. Rotate the crankshaft only in the direction of engine rotation.
By rotating the crankshaft by the bolt of the toothed pulley 2 in the direction of engine rotation, install the crankshaft, slightly before reaching the "TDC" position". Reinsert crankshaft lock -T10490- into crankshaft sprocket. Turn the crankshaft in the working direction until the pin -arrow- of the crankshaft lock engages, during rotation, in the hole in the crankshaft cover.
Attention! Inaccurate setting of the "TDC" position" leads to misalignment. When cranking further "TDC": turn the crankshaft another 2 revolutions and stop it shortly before "TDC", Then secure crankshaft with crankshaft lock -T10490-.
The camshaft hub must be able to lock itself in place using the locking tool for the injection pump pulley -3359-.
Re-fixation of the injection pump hub is hardly possible. A slight misalignment of the holes -arrow- does not affect the operation of the engine.
In this case, the pointer of the tensioning roller -2- must be in the middle between the protrusions -1- and -3- of the base.
Note: A lateral shift of max. 5 mm is permitted.
If the conditions are met, then you can continue with correctly adjusted valve timing. If the conditions are not met, then the valve timing must be adjusted.
Timing timing adjustment
If the camshaft hub does not allow itself to be locked, pull out the crankshaft lock -T10490- until its pin is released from the hole. Turn the crankshaft against the working direction of rotation until the piston of the first cylinder is in a position slightly before "TDC"". Then slowly turn the crankshaft in the working direction until the camshaft hub can be fixed. After fixing, loosen the screws securing the camshaft pulley.
D - the pin of the crankshaft lock -T10490- is located to the left of the hole
Turn the crankshaft in the working direction until the pin -arrow- of the crankshaft lock engages, during rotation, in the hole in the crankshaft cover. Tighten camshaft sprocket screws to 20 Nm.
A - the pin of the crankshaft lock -T10490- is located to the right of the hole
First turn the crankshaft slightly against the operating direction of rotation. Turn the crankshaft again in the working direction until the locking pin engages, during rotation, in the hole in the crankshaft cover. Tighten camshaft sprocket screws to 20 Nm.
Continuation with correctly adjusted or corrected valve timing
Remove retainer for diesel injection pump -3359- and retainer for crankshaft -T10490-. By rotating the crankshaft by the bolt of the toothed pulley 2 in the direction of engine rotation, install the crankshaft, slightly before reaching the "TDC" position". Checking the valve timing.
Attention! Risk of engine damage! When tightening the camshaft sprocket bolt, never use the diesel injection pump retainer -3359- as a stop.
If the camshaft hub can now be secured, tighten the securing bolts -1- for the camshaft pulley -pos. 8- finally using stop -T10172- with adapters -T10172/11-. Finally tighten the nut -2- for the toothed pulley of the injection pump -pos. 4- using stop -T10051- for this. Checking the valve timing.
Installation
Installation in reverse order.
Note: Replace gasket. To secure all hose connections, use original spring clamps, similar to those installed at the factory.
Tighten locking screw -1-.
