Note: If the master cylinder or slave cylinder has to be replaced due to a fault, first check the hydraulic clutch drive. If the slave cylinder is removed with the hose line connected to the gearbox, do not press the clutch pedal. Otherwise, the piston may be pressed out of the slave cylinder and break. The hydraulic clutch drive is connected via an aftermarket hose "see arrow 1" to one of the chambers "see arrow 2" of the hydraulic brake fluid reservoir. If there is no or too little brake fluid in this chamber, the system may be leaking. Symptoms of an external leak include, among other things, traces of brake fluid under the gearbox and on the lower noise-insulating engine casing under the gearbox. If there is a leak, the unit must be replaced. Check the routing of the hose line between the master and slave cylinders. The line must not be kinked or pinched. The return stroke of the pedal must not be impeded by shifted or additional pads (floor coverings).
