Note: After working on the hydraulic clutch drive, the system must be bled. When performing the following work, make sure that no brake fluid gets on the gearbox. Preliminary bleeding of the system is not required! Before bleeding, fill the hydraulic brake drive reservoir with brake fluid up to the "max" mark. Clutch pedal in free position, do not press.

Remove the air filter housing assembly if it interferes with access to the bleed nipple (arrow in the figure below).

Move the clutch pedal to the free position. Remove the cap from the bleed nipple "arrow". Connect the device for filling brake fluid and bleeding "VAS 5234" or "V.A.G 1869". Connect the bleed hose and connect the pressure hose to the collection tank. Use the air bleed hose to remove air if necessary (length 670 mm) "V.A.G 1238/B3". Switch on the brake fluid filling and bleeding device. Operating pressure: 2.0 bar. Open the bleeding nipple. Allow approx. 100 cm³ of brake fluid to flow out. Close the bleeding nipple. Slowly press the clutch pedal from stop to stop 10-15 times. Open the bleeding nipple. Allow another 50 cm³ of brake fluid to flow out. Close the bleeding nipple. Switch off the brake fluid filling and bleeding device and release the remaining pressure from the device. After the bleeding process is complete, press the clutch pedal several times. While doing so, monitor the operation of the clutch drive.
