Attention.
- If the vehicle is to be scrapped, the airbags and seat belt pretensioners must be activated inside the vehicle. If the vehicle is to be used in the future and only the airbag modules need to be scrapped, they must be activated outside the vehicle.
- When airbags or pretensioners are activated, a large amount of smoke is released, so it is necessary to select an appropriate space for their activation.
- Activation of airbags or pretensioners is a significant source of noise, so it is necessary to select an appropriate space for their activation. If for some reason this is not possible, take measures to ensure soundproofing of the process.
- During the activation of SRS elements, it is necessary to use protective headphones or special isolated rooms for personnel.
Activation inside the car (when recycling a car) (driver airbag module)
1. Place the car in an isolated place.
2. Disconnect the negative and positive battery cables, and then remove the battery from the vehicle.
Caution: Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the battery cable before continuing further work.
3. Remove the lower steering column cover.
4. Disconnect the connection between the contact disk connector and the side connector.
Note: Immediately after disconnection from the instrument panel wiring harness, both electrodes of the contact disk connector are automatically shorted. This prevents accidental deployment of the driver's airbag, for example, from static electricity.
5. Use two suitable wires of at least six meters in length for activation. Connect the wires at one end.

6. Touch the car body with your bare hand to discharge your own static electricity.
7. Use pliers or something similar to cut through the instrument panel wiring harness, while the contact disk connector must be disconnected.
Note: The disconnection point must be far enough away from the side wire connector to allow the activation wires to be connected to it.
8. Connect the activation wires to the disconnected instrument panel wiring harness, wrap the connection points with insulating tape, and then lead the activation wires out of the car.
9. Connect the side connector with the connected activation wires to the contact ring connector.
Note: If the car glass is scratched, the activation of the airbags will cause the glass to break and fly out of the car, so it is recommended to always cover the car with a cover.
10. To reduce the sound from the activation of the airbag, it is necessary to close all the door windows as tightly as possible, close all the doors and cover the car with a cover.
Attention.
- Before activating the airbag in the manner described, first make sure there are no strangers near the vehicle. Use protective glasses.
- The squib is very hot after the airbag has deployed, so you should wait at least 30 minutes to let it cool before handling it. The gas that fills the airbag is not poisonous, but inhaling it is still not recommended.
- If the airbag module does not activate, do not approach the module but contact a ŠKODA representative.
11. Move as far away from the vehicle as possible, disconnect the connection of the two wires from each other, and then connect them to the terminals of the battery removed from the vehicle to activate the airbag.
12. After activation, dispose of the airbag module as described in the relevant section below.
Activation inside the car (when recycling a car) (passenger airbag module)
1. Place the car in an isolated place.
2. Disconnect the negative and positive battery cables, and then remove the battery from the vehicle.
Caution: Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the battery cable before continuing further work.
3. Remove the glove box.
4. Disconnect the connection between the airbag module connector (front passenger) and a side wiring connector.
Note: If the connector is disconnected, both electrodes of the front passenger air bag module connector will automatically short-circuit to prevent accidental air bag deployment due to static electricity, etc.
5. Use two suitable wires of at least six meters in length for activation. Connect the wires at one end.
6. Touch the car body with your bare hand to discharge your own static electricity.
7. Cut the instrument panel wire when the air bag module connector is disconnected.
8. Connect the wires to each of the four terminals, then insulate them with electrical tape. Remove the wiring from the outside of the car.
9. Connect the side connector with the intermediate wire to the terminal of the airbag module.
10. To prevent deafening noises caused by airbag deployment, cover the vehicle with a cover.
Caution: If there are cracks on any glass, the glass may break and fly out after the airbag is deployed, therefore, to prevent injury, it is necessary to always cover the car with a cover when the airbags are activated.
Attention.
