Note: If the battery has been disconnected, after reconnecting the battery, the vehicle may exhibit some unusual driving behavior for several kilometers. This is because the engine management system needs to be reconfigured to match the engine parameters. Unusual behavior of the car during this period can be ignored.
1. To access the terminals and the battery indicator, you need to remove its plastic cover by pressing the latch in front (2 in Illustration 17.3 of Chapter 1) and pulling the cover up. If the battery is closed with a soft casing, just pry off its cover from the side of the wing (1) and fold its top and aside, after which the casing can be pulled up from the battery.
2. Turn off all electrical consumers, remove the key from the ignition and wait a minute.
3. To disconnect the battery, disconnect the wire from its negative terminal. If necessary, only after disconnecting the negative wire, disconnect the positive wire.
4. After working on the SRS system, turn on the ignition before connecting the battery. In this case, no one should be in the car.
5. On models with the system "Start-stop" (with block "J367" battery monitoring) disconnect the connector before connecting the battery (3 on resist. illustrations) block (2). Dock the connector only after connecting the battery.
11.5 Block connector "J367"
6. Connect the battery in reverse order. Do not grease battery terminals. If the positive wire has been disconnected, connect it before connecting the negative wire. Tighten the clamp bolts to 6 Nm.
7. After connecting the battery, turn the ignition on and off, and then do the following:
- set the time on the clock;
- initialize the power window e / drive (see chapter "Controls and methods of operation");
- enter the audio/navigation system security code (except for models with original audio/navigation system);
- Using the scan tool, perform the Steering Angle Sensor Zero Compensation procedure;
- using a diagnostic tool, read the trouble codes;
- check the correct operation of all electrical consumers.
