Warning: If the seat belts have been subjected to stress as a result of an accident, they must be replaced. When removing the belt retainers and anchors, note the sequence in which the spacers, washers, etc. are installed and reinstall them in the same sequence.
Removal
Front belt
1. Press the plastic cover and unscrew the upper belt fastener.
2. Unscrew the lower belt fastener.
3. Remove the center pillar trim panel (Chapter 22), and unscrew the seat belt tensioner from the body (photo).

4. Press the trim back, then unscrew the seat belt buckles from their brackets (photo).

Back belt
5. Remove the document shelf. Release the seat belts, then fold the seat forward.
6. Remove the mat in the luggage compartment and unscrew the belt lock from the floor. Note that the central belt (lap belt) can be unscrewed completely (photo).

7. Press the plastic cover and unscrew the upper belt clamp (photo).

8. Unscrew the lower belt retainer from the body (photo).

9. Unscrew the seat belt tensioner from the body (photo).

10. Pass the belt through the slot in the document shelf holder and remove it, being careful not to damage the belt material with the plastic.
Installation
11. Install in the reverse order of removal, tighten all mounting bolts to the specified tightening torque Specifications. Make sure the fasteners move freely.
