Removing
1. First make sure all electrical components are turned off.
2. Loosen the clamp nut of the negative terminal, then disconnect the clamp and negative wire from the terminal. This terminal must always be disconnected before working on any electrical component on the vehicle (photo).
3. Loosen the clamp nut of the positive terminal, then disconnect the clamp and wire from the terminal.
4. Remove the bolts (photo), and remove the clip from the front of the battery.
5. Lift the battery off the platform, do not tilt it or touch your clothing.
6. Clean the terminals, clips, pad and battery case. If the bodywork is rusting from spilled battery acid, thoroughly clean the rusted area and repaint.
7. Whenever a battery is removed, inspect it for cracks and electrolyte leaks.
Installation
8. Install in the reverse order of removal. Clean terminals and wires before connecting. Lubricate the terminals with Vaseline. When connecting the wires, do not reverse the polarity. Always connect the positive lead first and then the negative lead.
