Removal
1. First, make sure all electrical components are turned off.
2. Loosen the negative terminal clamp nut, then disconnect the clamp and the negative wire from the terminal. This terminal should always be disconnected before working on any electrical component on a vehicle (photo).

3. Loosen the positive terminal clamp nut, then disconnect the clamp and wire from the terminal.
4. Unscrew the bolts (photo) and remove the clamp from the front of the battery.

5. Lift the battery from the platform, do not tilt it or touch it with your clothes.
6. Clean the terminals, clamps, pad and battery case. If the body is rusted from acid spilled from the battery, thoroughly clean the rusted area and repaint.
7. Whenever you remove the battery, check it for cracks and electrolyte leaks.
Installation
8. Install in the reverse order of removal. Clean the terminals and wires before connecting. Lubricate the terminals with Vaseline. When connecting the wires, do not mix up the polarity. Always connect the positive wire first, then the negative.
