Removal
Note: Drain the engine oil first.
1. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (arrow) from the engine oil level and temperature sensor as shown in the figure below.
2. Release the fastening clamps (arrows) and remove the sound-insulating cover (1) of the oil pan, as shown in the figure below.
3. Unscrew the bolts (arrows) securing the oil pan to the gearbox, as shown in the figure below.
4. Loosen the oil pan mounting bolts (1...18) crosswise, as shown in the figure below.
5. Carefully remove the oil pan assembly from the engine crankcase.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Note: Before starting any work, wear protective gloves and glasses.
1. Remove any remaining old sealant from the mating surfaces using a solvent.
2. Degrease the mating surfaces.
3. Cut off the end of the sealant tube dispenser so that the hole diameter is 2-3 mm.
Caution: Do not apply a bead of sealant larger in diameter than specified in this section. Otherwise, excess sealant may get inside the oil pan, which can lead to clogging of the oil passages.
If the front crankshaft oil seal has been replaced.
Note:
- The lower part of the mating surface on the crankshaft pulley side, after removing the silicone sealant, has a gap with the cylinder block of approximately 1 mm, which must be compensated by applying more sealant to the oil pan, as shown in the figure below.
- Apply a bead of sealant to the clean and degreased surface of the oil pan as shown in the figure below.
- Diameter of sealant bead on crankshaft pulley side (between the arrows) should be 3-4 mm.
- The diameter of the sealant bead around the perimeter of the mating surface of the oil pan should be 2-3 mm.
Note: After applying sealant to the mating surface, the oil pan must be installed within 5 minutes.
If the front crankshaft oil seal has not been replaced
Apply a 2-3 mm diameter bead of sealant to the mating surface of the oil pan, as shown in the figure below.
Note:
- Be extremely careful when applying the sealant.
- Install the oil pan onto the engine crankcase within 5 minutes after applying the sealant.
Continued for all options
Install the oil deflector plate.
Install the oil pan onto the engine crankcase and tighten its mounting bolts to the required tightening torque in the sequence specified above.
Note:
- Check and ensure that the oil pan is flush with the flywheel side.
- After installing the oil pan, pouring engine oil into the engine is allowed after at least 30 minutes to allow the sealant to dry.
- Fill the engine lubrication system with engine oil.
