The following procedure is only valid for replacing or subsequently repairing the brake caliper. Remove the wheels. Attach the air bleed hose to the brake caliper bleed nipple and then open the bleed nipple. Install a device to press the brake pedal, such as, "V.A.G 1869/2".Close the bleed nipple and remove the suction. Unscrew the brake hose. Remove both protective caps from the brake caliper support bushings. Unscrew both guide pins and remove from the brake caliper. Unscrew the brake caliper mount from the brake shield. Remove the brake pads from the brake caliper,

Installation



The piston is set to its original position. Install the inner brake shoe (piston side) "1" and the outer brake shoe "2" with retaining springs in the brake caliper. Inner brake shoe (piston side) with three-finger clamp "1". External brake shoe with small three-finger clamp "2" (black color). First, place the brake caliper with the brake shoes from below "see arrow" on the brake shield. Screw the brake caliper with both guide pins to the brake shield. The brake caliper bolt must be located behind the wheel hub bearing housing guide! Install both protective caps. Screw the brake hose to the brake caliper. Remove the brake pedal depressor, e.g, "V.A.G 1869/2". Remove air from the brake system. Install the wheels.

Note: Follow the instructions for replacing the brake pads. Press the brake pedal firmly several times with the vehicle stationary until the brake pads are in their working position. Check the brake fluid level.
