Note: The work procedure is only valid for the replacement or subsequent repair of the brake caliper.
Remove wheels. Disconnect the brake pad wear indicator connector. Attach the suction air bleed hose to the brake caliper bleeder and then open the bleeder. Fit brake pedal depressor, eg -VAG 1869/2-. Close the bleed valve and remove the suction. Disconnect the brake hose. Unscrew both fastening screws, while keeping the guide pin from turning. Separate the brake caliper from the brake shield.
Installation
The piston is set to its original position. Both brake pads with springs are inserted into the seats in the brake caliper. Install the brake caliper onto the brake shield. Use new screws for this. Connect the brake hose. Remove brake depressor, eg -VAG 1869/2-. Connect the brake pad wear indicator connector. Remove air from the brake system. Install wheels.
Note: With the vehicle stationary, firmly press the brake pedal several times until the brake pads are in their working position. Check brake fluid level.
