When the wheels are pointing straight ahead, secure the steering wheel from unexpected movement with the "arrow" tape.

Unscrew nut "1" and pull the floor covering in the "direction of the arrow".

Loosen bolt "1" and remove cardan joint "2" from the steering gear shaft. Remove the noise-insulating casing.

On vehicles with automatic headlight range control, disconnect the front left ground clearance sensor connector "G78".

Disconnect connector "2" of the oil level and temperature sensor "G266" "1", if available. Disconnect the heater circulation pump connector "V488", if available.

On both sides, disconnect the struts "3" from the stabilizer "2",

Disconnect the exhaust system bracket "arrows" from the subframe.

Disconnect the lower support of the power unit from the gearbox. To do this, unscrew the bolts "1". Fix the position of the subframe.

Place a VAG 1383A engine and transmission jack with a suitable belt under the subframe. Lower the subframe no more than 10;see Make sure that electrical cables will not be damaged.

Installation
Installation in reverse order.
Note: When installing, take care not to damage or twist the steering gear boot.
Perform a test drive. Check the steering wheel position during the test drive.
Note: If after a test drive in a straight-ahead direction the steering wheel is turned, the wheel alignment angles must be adjusted.
