Self-diagnosis and fault indication
The steering column control unit "J527" is equipped with self-diagnosis, which facilitates troubleshooting. To troubleshoot, use the "Guided troubleshooting" function in the Tester.
Parts and components of the steering column switch module with a mechanical ignition lock
1. Steering column
2. Shear bolt, 2 pcs.
3. Lock cylinder
4. Ignition key
5. Steering column control unit "J527"; with airbag module coil spring and return ring with slip ring "F138"
Caution! Risk of damage to the return ring. The return ring and the slip ring must not be rotated relative to each other when removed.
6. Transport blocking
7. Screw, 1.1 Nm
8. Steering column switch block: with turn signal switch "E2" and intermittent windscreen wiper switch "E22"; cruise control option: with cruise control switch "E45"
9. Steering column shaft lock housing
10. Screw, 1.1 Nm
11. Ignition and starter switch "D"
12. Ignition key removal lock magnet "N376"
