Note: If the fuel pump fails, the fuel should be pumped out using the fuel suction device "VAS 5190".
1. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly (for details, see the relevant section in Chapter Body).
2. Lift the fuel pump cover.
3. Disconnect the five-pin fuel pump wiring harness connector.
Caution. The fuel supply line is under pressure! Before disconnecting the hose connections, place a clean cloth around the connection point. Only then can the pressure be released by carefully disconnecting.
4. Disconnect the fuel supply line and collect the leaking fuel in a rag.
5. By connecting the adapters together "V.A.G 1318/16" and "V.A.G 1318/17", connect the resulting "fuel pumping line" to the filler neck of the fuel tank.
6. Hold the "fuel recovery line" in a suitable fuel container.
7. Using auxiliary wires (A) from the VAG 1594/C measuring kit, connect the battery to the fuel pump contacts as follows:
Positive terminal of the battery (+) - to contact "1" of the fuel pump.
Negative battery terminal (-) - to contact "5" of the fuel pump.
The fuel pump operates, pumping out fuel.
Caution: To prevent fuel spillage if the fuel container is not large enough, do not allow the fuel pump to operate unattended.
