Removing
Note.
- The fuel tank must not be filled more than 3/4 of its capacity.
- Switch off the ignition and remove the key from the ignition switch.
1. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly.
2. Remove the fuel pump cover under the mat.
3. Disconnect the five-pin connector of the fuel pump wiring harness.
Attention. The power supply system is under pressure. Cover the joint with a clean cloth before disconnecting hose connections. Then release the pressure by carefully removing the hose.
Note. To unlock the fuel lines, press the lower retaining ring on the end side of the rectangular connector.
4. Disconnect the fuel supply line (black) (2) and fuel return line (blue) (1) from the pump flange as shown in the figure below. To do this, press the unlock buttons.
5. Loosen the union nut with a special union nut wrench -MP 1-227 (3217) - as shown in the figure below.
6. Remove the fuel pump and O-ring from the fuel tank opening.
Note. In the case of a fuel pump to be replaced, the old pump must be emptied before it is disposed of.
Installation
1. Installation of the fuel pump is carried out in the reverse order of operations. In doing so, the following instructions must be observed:
When installing, do not bend the measuring device of the fuel gauge.
Before starting installation, lubricate the O-ring of the fuel flange only from the inside.
Observe the installation position of the fuel pump flange: the marking on the flange must correspond to the marking on the fuel tank (arrows).
Do not confuse the supply and return fuel lines.
Make sure that the fuel lines are firmly installed.
After installing the fuel pump, check whether the fuel supply and return lines and the air bleed pipe are fixed to the fuel tank.
