Removal
Note: If the fuel pressure sensor fails, the fuel pressure control valve is switched off and the distributor module delivers the maximum amount of fuel, which leads to increased fuel consumption.
1. Remove the upper decorative engine cover.
2. Unscrew the mounting screws (1) and (3) shown in the figure below.
3. Unlock the clamp (arrow) and remove the cover (2) shown in the figure below.

4. Release the cooling system water hose (2) shown in the figure below from the clamps.
5. Unlock the clamps (arrows) and remove the upper part of the air intake system (1), as shown in the figure below.

6. Unscrew the fastening screw on the right and left sides (arrow), as shown in the figure below.
7. Unlock and remove the lower part of the engine air intake system (1), as shown in the figure below.

Caution: The fuel system is under excess pressure. Exercise extreme caution and relieve the pressure before beginning any work involving disassembly of the system.
8. Unscrew the screws (arrows) securing the water pipe to the intake manifold housing, as shown in the figure below.

9. Unscrew the mounting nuts (2) and the mounting screw (3), then remove the intake manifold stand, as shown in the figure below.
10. Remove the rubber support (1) from the intake manifold strut shown in the figure below.

11. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the fuel pressure sensor (1) using the special tool (T10118).
12. Using a special head (T40218), unscrew the fuel pressure sensor (1), shown in the figure below.

Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Checking the technical condition of the pressure sensor
1. Remove the upper engine cover.
2. Remove the fuel pressure sensor (G247).
3. Instead of the fuel supply pressure sensor (G247), an adapter should be screwed in (VAS 6294/2) and tighten it to the torque specified for the fuel pressure sensor (G247).

4. Open the screw plug of the digital pressure gauge (VAS 6394/1), tighten the removed fuel pressure sensor (G247) there, applying the specified torque.

5. Use the test adapter (VAS 5570) to create an electrical connection between the vehicle and the fuel pressure sensor (G247).

6. Connect the diagnostic tool (VAS 5051) (1) as described below:
The wiring harness connector (2) of the diagnostic equipment wire must be connected to the diagnostic equipment connection plug in the driver's footwell.
7. Turn on the ignition.
8. On the display, gradually press:
- Automatic vehicle control
- Automatic control (self-diagnosis)
- 01 - Engine electronics
- 011 - Measured values
9. Enter 140 here and confirm by pressing Q.
10. Display field 3 shows the measured value sent to the vehicle by the fuel supply pressure sensor (G247).

11. Turn on the digital pressure gauge (VAS 6394/1). To do this, briefly press the button (A).
Note: If you press button (A) for 2 seconds, the lighting will turn on for 20 seconds.
12. It is required that the digital pressure gauge (VAS 6394/1) indicated 0 MPa (0 bar).
If this is not the case:
13. Press button (C) briefly to set zero.

14. Connect the pressure line of the digital pressure gauge (VAS 6394/1) to the adapter (VAS 6394/2).
15. Start the engine.
16. Compare the pressure displayed on the digital pressure gauge (VAS 6394/1), with the value measured on the diagnostic instrument (VAS 5051). The pressure difference is permitted to be a maximum of 0.5 MPa (5 bar).
If the pressure values do not match, the fuel supply pressure sensor (G247) must be replaced.
Attention: Digital pressure gauge (VAS 6394/1) - under high fuel pressure! With the engine running, disconnect the plug connector from the fuel pressure regulating valve (N276). This reduces the fuel supply pressure to approximately 0.6 MPa (6 bar). Turn off the ignition. Place a cloth around the fuel pressure sensor (G247), then slowly loosen the fuel pressure sensor (G247) to reduce the remaining pressure.

17. Repeat the test with the new fuel pressure sensor (G247) and compare the two measured values again.
If the measured values still do not match:
18. Perform wire control, measurements and vehicle information VAS5051.
If the values match:
19. Fuel pressure sensor (G247) - normal.
