Removal and installation
1. Remove the oil pan assembly (for more details, see the relevant section in this chapter).
2. Disconnect and remove the oil pump drive chain cover as shown in the figure below (arrows).
3. Unscrew the mounting bolts (arrows) shown in the figure below.
4. Remove the oil pump assembly together with the drive chain.
5. Check and make sure that the guide pins (1) and (3) shown in the figure below are installed in the oil pump housing.
6. Install the gasket with the mesh filter into the oil pump housing (2) as shown in the figure below.
7. Check and ensure that the oil pump gears rotate smoothly and without jamming.
Note: If the oil pump rotates with difficulty, the pump assembly must be replaced.
8. Insert the drive sprocket into the drive chain, then install and tighten the mounting bolt to the required tightening torque.
9. Install the oil pump assembly.
10. Fill the lubrication system with fresh engine oil.
