Remove the upper timing chain cover. Remove the noise-insulating cover. Turn the crankshaft pulley using the "T10355" stop in the direction of the arrow so that the "arrow" marks are almost at the top position. Unscrew the spark plug of the 1st cylinder.

Screw the adapter for the dial indicator "T10170" or -T10170A- into the spark plug hole. Install the indicator with the extension -T10170A/1- until it stops and tighten the clamp "arrow". Slowly turn the crankshaft in the working direction of rotation to the maximum value according to the indicator. When the indicator arrow reaches the maximum mark (extreme point), the piston is at "TDC".

Note: If the piston has passed "TDC", the crankshaft should be turned 2 more revolutions. Do not turn the crankshaft in the direction opposite to the working direction!

The recess on the V-belt pulley of the crankshaft and the mark on the lower casing of the timing chain must be located opposite each other "arrow".

The recess on the V-belt pulley of the crankshaft…

Marks "1" on the camshaft sprockets must be located opposite marks -2 and 3- on the cylinder head.

Marks «1» on the camshaft sprockets must be…

Measure the distance from edge "1" to mark "2" on the exhaust camshaft sprocket. Nominal value: 74...0.77 mm. If the nominal value is reached, measure the distance between the mark on the exhaust camshaft sprocket -3- and the mark on the intake camshaft sprocket "4". Nominal value: 124...0.127 mm.

Note: A shift of one tooth means a deviation from the nominal value of approximately 6 mm. If a shift is detected, the timing chain must be reinstalled.
