Note: The conditions for correct adjustment of the shift mechanism are as follows.
Gearbox, clutch and clutch drive are in perfect condition. The gearshift mechanism moves smoothly. The controls and transmission elements of the gearshift mechanism are in good working order. Gearbox is in neutral. Install the release tool "T30098" in the middle between the decorative frame and the gearshift lever boot "arrow 1". Carefully press the gearshift lever boot with the release tool "T30098" from the center console "arrow 2". Fold the boot upwards over the gearshift handle. Move the gearshift lever from neutral to the left into the 1st/2nd gear shift channel.
Secure the gearshift lever with the T10027A drive pin. Remove the air filter if it is installed above the gearbox. Unlock the locks for the gearshift cable and gear selector cable as follows:
Push the movable sleeve on the gearshift drive cable and gear selector cable forward until it stops "see arrow 1". Turn the movable bushings in the direction of "arrow 2" all the way to the stop so that they lock in place.
Note: The drive cables must fit into the locking devices.
Gearbox in neutral. Lock the gearshift rod as follows: Move the gearshift lever in the direction of "arrow 1" down into the 1st/2nd gear shift channel. At the same time, turn the corner "A" in the direction of "arrow 2" so that it locks. The gearshift rod is then locked and does not move any more. Make sure that the gearshift drive cable and gear selection cable freely enter the locking devices.
Turn the movable sleeve on the gear shift cable and gear selection cable in the direction of the "arrow" until it stops. The springs push the movable sleeves back to their original position.

Turn the square "A" to its original position (in the "direction of the arrow"). Remove the driving pin -T10027A- from the shift mechanism. Install the gearshift lever boot. Install the air filter, if it was removed.
Functional check
In neutral, the gearshift lever should be in the 3rd/4th gear shift channel. Press the clutch. Engage all gears several times. Pay particular attention to the operation of the reverse gear lock. If there is jamming when re-engaging the gear, readjust the shift mechanism.
