Removal
1. Remove the rear door interior trim panel (Section 11).
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
3. Remove the wiper arm and blade (Chapter 25).
4. Unscrew the spindle housing nut, then remove the washer and seal, remembering their location.
5. Unscrew the nuts and bolts securing the motor brackets (photo).

6. Remove the motor from the rear door and disconnect the electrical wiring (photo).

Installation
7. If a new engine is installed, please note that on models from 1992 onwards, changes have been made to the electrical wiring. A later engine can be installed on earlier models without any problems, but when installing an early engine on later models, consult your Skoda dealer.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal. If the nut or bolt securing the end bracket to the motor has been disturbed, do not overtighten it - it should be slightly tighter than hand tight. Secure the bracket with paint or blocking compound. A modified bracket is used on later models.
