Motor
Removal
1. Make sure the motor is in the "parked" position (as described in Chapter 25), then disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Unscrew the nut that connects the motor VAZ to the windshield wiper linkage lever (photo).

3. Unscrew the three bolts securing the windshield wiper motor to the bracket (photo).

4. Disconnect the electrical wiring and the motor ground cable (photo).

5. Remove the motor.

6. Install in the reverse order of removal. Before connecting the motor to the traction lever, make sure the motor is in the "parked" position.

7. Make sure the wipers are in the "parked" position, then remove both arms (see Chapter 25).
8. Remove the caps (photo), unscrew the nuts of the traction axle housing, then remove the rubber gaskets.

9. Remove the motor and linkage assembly far enough to access the wiring connector and ground cable.
10. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Disconnect the electrical wiring and the motor ground cable.
11. Remove the traction and motor assembly.
12. Now the assembly can be dismantled if necessary (photo).

Installation
13 Install in the reverse order of removal, paying attention to the following.
- a) If the assembly has been removed, install the motor on the bracket. When the motor is in the "parked" position, the rod should be parallel to the bracket and pointing towards the driver.
- b) Lubricate the bushings and spacers.
- c) Install the rubber gaskets correctly.
- d) Connect the motor wiring and secure it.
- e) Make sure the windshield wipers are working properly.
