Towing
Towing vehicle driver:
- when starting from a standing start, add gas only after the cable has become taut;
- when starting from a standstill, release the clutch pedal especially gently.
Driver of the towed vehicle:
- turn on the ignition to prevent the steering wheel lock from becoming locked and to be able to turn on the turn signals, horn and windshield wipers;
- disengage the transmission or set the automatic transmission selector to the "N" position;
- remember that the brake and power steering boosters only operate when the engine is running (if the engine is not running, you need to apply significantly more force when pressing the brake pedal and when using the steering mechanism);
- make sure the tow rope remains taut at all times.
Tow rope and tow bar
The most careful and safe way to tow a car is with a tow bar. Use the tow rope only if there is no suitable tow bar available.
To prevent both vehicles from suffering excessive shocks during towing and towing-start operations, the towing rope used must be made of an elastic material. Therefore, use only ropes made of artificial fiber or similar materials.
Attach the towing rope or towing bar only to the towing eyes intended for this purpose.
Driving technique
Towing cars requires a certain amount of skill. It is necessary that the drivers of both vehicles are familiar with the peculiarities of driving while towing. Inexperienced drivers should neither tow another vehicle nor drive a towed vehicle.
When towing, always ensure that both vehicles are not subjected to excessive towing force or shock loading. When towing on unpaved roads, there is always a risk of overloading the fasteners on both vehicles and damaging them.
Caution: If a transmission malfunction results in loss of oil, the vehicle may only be towed with the drive wheels raised and transported in a special towing vehicle or on a trailer.
Note:
- When towing a vehicle or towing-starting the engine, observe any special legal provisions in certain countries, such as markings on the towing and towed vehicles.
- The towing rope must not be twisted, otherwise the front towing eye may, under certain circumstances, be pulled out of the vehicle.

The towing eye is located in the toolbox.
Installing the towing eye:
- remove the plug in the place indicated by the arrow and take it out;
- screw the towing eye on by hand, turning it to the left until it stops;
- tighten the towing eye with a lug wrench (put the key through the loop).
Removing the towing eye:
- unscrew the towing eye;
- install the grille on the side farther from the license plate;
- press the grille inward on the side closest to the license plate;
- the grate must fit securely into a fixed position.
