
"Pos. 2" do not take into account. Remove the air filter. Disconnect the selector cable from the gearshift lever "A" using the door trim puller" MP8-602/1".

Disconnect the selector cable "arrow" lock washer and leave the cable in the installation position.

Note: The lock washer "see arrow" of the selector lever cable must always be replaced. Do not bend or break the control lever cable. Risk of damage to the selector lever cable. Do not push the gear selector cable back out of the cable support. The gear selector cable is immediately removed from the cable support when removing the shift mechanism.
Raise the car. Disconnect the rear "1" and front tunnel crossbars "2" from the body (if available). Disconnect the bracket "3" of the exhaust system from the bracket of the mounted units. Loosen the clamping sleeve "4".

Note: The decoupling element in the exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10° - risk of damage. A 2nd mechanic is required to remove the rear section of the exhaust system.
Disconnect the rear section of the exhaust system "5" from the clamping sleeve. Remove the underbody trim from the left "6" and right "7" sides of the body. Release the lambda probe cable from the clamps on the heat shield. Remove the heat shield under the shift mechanism by moving it backwards, to do this, loosen the clamps "see arrows".

Note: When removing the shift mechanism underneath the vehicle, you will need the assistance of a 2nd mechanic.
Installation
Installation in reverse order.
Note: Do not bend or break the control lever drive cable.
Install the center console and air duct. Install the ashtray or compartment in front of the shift mechanism. Install the selector lever handle and shift mechanism cover. Connect the battery wire to ground. Carefully install the gear selector cable "2" on the gearshift lever and secure it with a new lock washer "1" on the cable support.

Check ignition key removal interlock. Adjust gear selector cable. Install air filter. Check shift mechanism. Install heat shield under shift mechanism and secure underbody trim to body. Install exhaust system and align without creating stress. Install tunnel jumpers under exhaust system.
