Caution! When changing the transmission oil, it is not always necessary to change the transmission oil filter. Therefore, it is necessary to follow the instructions for when to change the transmission oil filter and when not to. Do not start the engine after repairs if there is no or insufficient oil in the gearbox or after significant loss of transmission oil. Only use the dual clutch transmission oil specified for the DSG "0D9" as a spare part. Using other oils may cause malfunction or failure of the gearbox, part number. Follow the instructions for the DSG "0D9". Determine the transmission oil temperature. The condition of the transmission oil changes depending on the temperature of the transmission oil. Checking the transmission oil level at too low temperatures leads to overfilling. Checking the transmission oil level at too high temperatures leads to underfilling. Overfilling, as well as underfilling, negatively affects the operation of the gearbox. Replace the sealing ring of the threaded plug of the oil drain hole and the hole for checking the oil level.

Engine stopped. Car in horizontal position; all jack mountings must be at the same height to ensure a horizontal position. The selector lever is in the "P" position. The vehicle diagnostic, measuring and information system is connected. The transmission oil temperature at the beginning of the test must not exceed 35°C.

Transmission oil change, oil filter change

Note: The following instructions must be followed until the transmission oil change is complete.

Removal and installation the oil filter

Remove the engine cover. Remove the air filter. Raise the car. Remove the lower noise-insulating engine cover. Install an oil collection pan under the gearbox. Lower the car. Unscrew the oil filter housing "1" from the gearbox. Before removing, tilt the oil filter housing slightly so that the oil flows back into the gearbox.

Note: Replace sealing ring "2".

Remove filter "3". Lubricate O-ring "2" with transmission oil. Lubricate O-ring in the flange of suction side "see arrow" of new oil filter with transmission oil. Install new oil filter with flange of suction side "see arrow" down and tighten filter housing to specified torque. Install air filter.

Changing transmission oil, checking oil level

Raise the car. Remove the protective cover "A" from the bottom of the gearbox "see arrows" if present. Place a pan under the gearbox to collect the oil.

Unscrew the plug of the threaded hole for checking the oil level "see arrow" next to the stabilizer bar strut.

Unscrew the plug of the threaded hole for…

Note: Behind this plug there is a plastic overflow tube, which is tightened with an 8 mm Allen key to a torque of 3 Nm. The length of the overflow tube determines the oil level in the gearbox; when replacing this tube, observe the part number.

Remove the bypass tube. Approx. 5.0 l of oil will flow out. Leave the oil collection pan under the gearbox. Screw on the bypass tube and tighten to the specified torque. To top up, use an oil filling adapter, such as "VAS 6262" or "VAS 6262A". Shake the oil container before opening.

Before screwing the oil filling adapter "VAS 6262A" onto the oil container, measure the length of the air bleed tube, size "a", and, if necessary, cut the tube to size "a": 210 mm.

Before screwing the oil filling adapter «VAS…

Hint: Measure dimension "a" on the rod (starting from the green surface in the enlarged image) adapter for filling oil "VAS 6262A". If the thread on the oil container does not fit the adapter "VAS 6262A", you must additionally use an adapter "VAS 6262/6".

Hint: Measure dimension «a» on the rod (starting…

Caution! The filling hose and the adapter "VAS 6262" or "VAS 6262A" must be clean, and the transmission oil must not be mixed with other oils!

Screw in the ATF oil filling adapter "VAS 6262/2" "A" with your hand into the threaded hole to check the oil level.

Screw in the ATF oil filling adapter «VAS 6262/2»…

When replacing the container, you can close the shut-off valve or hold the oil filling adapter "VAS 6262" or "VAS 6262A" above the gearbox. Using the oil filling adapter, fill in 5.5 liters of transmission oil for a gearbox with a double-disc clutch. Read the transmission oil temperature. Start the engine. Press the brake pedal and move the selector lever through all positions for about 3 seconds. Then return the selector lever to position "P".

When replacing the container, you can close the…

Do not turn off the engine!

Warning! When working near a radiator, do not approach the fan - risk of injury! The fan may turn on by itself.

At transmission oil temperature from 35°C to 45°C: With the engine running, disconnect the quick-release coupling on the oil filler adapter. Allow excess oil to drain from the gearbox.

Note: Every 30 seconds a little oil comes out through the bypass tube, regardless of its level; (the reason is the pulsations of the oil cooling the clutch). Such oil quantities are not a criterion for determining the correct oil level and should therefore not be taken into account in the assessment. Oil flowing out of the gearbox must not be used to top up the gearbox. Drained oil must be disposed of properly.

As soon as the oil starts to leak (drip), unscrew the oil filler adapter and screw in a new plug of the threaded hole for checking the oil level "arrow". Tightening torque: 45 Nm. Stop the engine. This completes the replacement of the transmission oil and oil filter. The oil level in the gearbox is within the normal range. Install the lower noise-insulating casing of the engine.
