Control
1. Move the selector lever to position "P".
2. Turn off the ignition.
3. Remove the engine cover (for more details, see the relevant section in the chapter "Body").
3. Remove the air filter assembly (for more details, see the relevant section in the chapter "Intake and exhaust system").
4. Unlock the lock washer (A) and remove it in an upward direction as shown in the figure below.
5. The lock washer (B) should be removed in an upward direction as shown in the figure below.
6. After squeezing the selector lever cable from the lever on the gear shift control shaft, set it aside.
7. Place the selector lever cable tensioner in a position that allows the end to move freely.
Note: Do not bend or over-flex the selector lever cable.
8. Turn on the ignition, press the brake pedal.
9. Move the selector lever from "P" to "S".
10. Check the front protective cover of the gear shift drive on the selector lever cable for damage; replace the cable if necessary. The gear shift drive and the selector lever cable must have a smooth movement when shifting gears; if necessary, replace the selector lever cable or repair the gear shift drive.
Note: Do not lubricate the selector lever cable tightening spherical bushing or the gear shift control shaft lever.
11. Carefully press the selector lever cable onto the gear shift control shaft lever.
12. Reinstall the selector lever cable tensioner with new lock washers and the loosened clamp bolt.
Setting up
1. The selector lever cable tension must be adjusted if:
- the selector lever cable was removed from the gearbox.
- the engine or gearbox was removed and installed.
- the unit support parts were removed and installed.
- the cable tensioner or gear shift drive itself was removed and installed.
- changed the position of the engine/gearbox, e.g. if they were installed without internal stress.
Setup procedure
Note: Prerequisites for performing the operations described below:
- The tension bolt shown in the figure below (arrow) is loose.
- The selector lever should be moved to the "P" position.
1. Press the gear lever in the direction of the arrow to the "P" position, as shown in the figure below.
2. Turn both front wheels slightly in the same direction, for example by moving the car forward until the locking lever enters a fixed position in the gear of the mechanism that locks the transmission of the car in park, and the wheels are locked (you can't turn them together in the same direction).
Note: If the clamp screw (arrow) is loosened, it is absolutely necessary that the selector lever remains in the "P" position, otherwise the adjustment will be incorrect.

3. Move the selector lever slightly forward and backward without allowing it to move to a different position.
4. Using a smooth movement, tighten the clamping screw (arrow) on the selector lever cable clamp, applying the appropriate tightening torque. Tightening torque 12 Nm.
Note:
- When tightening the clamping screw (arrow), make sure that the cable clamp of the selector lever does not move any further.
- This completes the regulation.
Checking the adjusted position of the selector lever cable
1. While pressing the button, move the selector lever from the "P" position approximately 5 mm backwards and hold it, but do not move it all the way to the "R" position.
2. Release the selector lever. The selector lever should return to the "P" position automatically.
3. If necessary, adjust the selector lever.
4. Move the selector lever to the "N" position.
5. While pressing the button, move the selector lever from the "N" position approximately 5 mm backwards and hold it, but do not move it all the way to the "D" position.
6. Release the selector lever. The selector lever should return to the "N" position automatically.
7. If necessary, adjust the selector lever.
8. While pressing the button, move the selector lever from the "N" position approximately 5 mm backwards and hold it, but do not move it all the way to the "R" position.
9. Release the selector lever. The selector lever should return to the "N" position automatically.
10. If necessary, adjust the selector lever.
11. Check the gear shift drive.
12. Install the air filter (for more details, see the relevant section in the chapter "Intake and exhaust system").
13. Install the engine cover (for more details, see the relevant section in the chapter "Body").
