Removal
Caution: Do not operate the high-pressure fuel pump dry—without fuel.
1. Remove the timing belt (for more details, see the relevant section in the chapter "Diesel engine").
2. Loosen the connecting nuts and disconnect the high-pressure fuel line between the high-pressure fuel pump and the fuel rail.
3. Install the special tool (T10051) (A) onto the high pressure fuel pump drive toothed pulley as shown in the figure below.
4. Tighten the mounting nuts (arrow) shown in the figure below by hand.
5. Move the special tool (B) (T10492) away, then carefully turn the fuel pump pulley and set it to the unloaded position.

6. Loosen the mounting nuts (arrow) and remove the special tool (T10051) (A), shown in the figure below.
7. Remove the high pressure fuel pump drive toothed pulley.

8. Install the special tool (T10489) onto the hub by turning its bolt to the right, as shown in the figure below.
9. Press off the high-pressure fuel pump hub using a special tool.

10. Loosen the fastening clamps and disconnect the return fuel hoses (2) shown in the figure below.
11. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) as shown in the figure below.
12. Carefully remove the high-pressure fuel pump assembly.

Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
1. Install the hub (arrow) onto the high pressure fuel pump shaft as shown in the figure below. The key on the high pressure fuel pump shaft must align with the recess in the hub.

2. Install the high pressure fuel pump drive toothed pulley onto the shaft hub as shown in the figure below. Prevent any petroleum products from getting between the special device and the toothed pulley of the high-pressure fuel pump drive.

3. Screw the nuts (arrow) onto the threaded part of the high-pressure fuel pump shaft, shown in the figure below.
4. Install the special device on the toothed pulley of the high-pressure fuel pump drive, then tighten the mounting nuts by hand.
5. Turn the fuel pump drive toothed pulley using the special tool (T10051) until the pulley teeth rest against the special tool (T10492), as shown in the figure below.

6. Having completed the previous operation, insert the special tool (T10492) into the fork (2) of the hub and into the hole behind it (1) in the engine accessory mounting bracket, as shown in the figure below.
7. Loosen the mounting nuts (arrows) again. The high-pressure fuel pump drive pulley should still be able to turn. One way or another, do not unscrew the nuts completely.

8. Install the timing belt (for more details, see the relevant section in the chapter "Diesel engine").
9. Connect the high pressure fuel line.
