Turn the crankshaft to "TDC" as follows. Unscrew the threaded plug of the "TDC" hole on the cylinder block. Screw in the locking bolt "T10340" until it stops in the cylinder block and tighten to a torque of 30 Nm. Turn the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation until it stops. The crankshaft counterweight is now adjacent to the locking bolt,

Note: The locking bolt "T10340" locks the crankshaft only in the operating direction of rotation. Risk of engine damage! If the locking bolt "T10340" cannot be screwed in all the way, the crankshaft is not in the correct position! In this case, proceed as follows. Loosen the locking screw. Turn the crankshaft 90° (¼ turn) in the direction of engine rotation. Screw the locking bolt "T10340" into the cylinder block until it stops and tighten to a torque of 30 Nm. Turn the crankshaft further in the direction of engine rotation until it stops.

Note: The locking bolt «T10340» locks the…

Both camshafts have asymmetrically located notches "arrows" on the gearbox side, which must be above the center of the camshafts. On the exhaust camshaft "A", these notches - the upper arrows - are accessible through the holes in the pulley for driving the coolant pump. On the intake camshaft "E", these notches - the lower arrows - are located above the center of the camshaft.

Both camshafts have asymmetrically located…

If the camshafts are not installed as described above. Unscrew the locking bolt "T10340", turn the crankshaft one turn and install it again, to "TDC".

Note: The camshaft locking tool "T10494" should be easy to insert. The camshaft locking tool must not be installed with an impact tool. If the camshafts are installed as described above.

Insert the camshaft locking tool "T10494" into the camshafts until it stops and tighten the screw "arrow" by hand.

Insert the camshaft locking tool «T10494» into…

If the camshaft locking tool "T10494" is not inserted, the valve timing is not normal. Adjust the valve timing, remove the toothed belt from the camshafts. If the camshaft locking tool "T10494" is inserted, the valve timing is normal. Valve timing is normal.

Caution! Risk of engine damage. After completing the work, be sure to ensure that the locking bolt "T10340" and the camshaft lock "T10494" are not left on the engine.

Installation in reverse order.

Note: Replace the screws that are tightened to the specified angle. If the sealing ring of the threaded plug is damaged, replace the sealing ring.
