Removing and installing oil pressure sender -F22-
Note: When installing, fasten all thermal insulation sleeves in their original positions.
Remove soundproof cover. Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove heat shield for right drive shaft.
Disconnect connector -arrow-. Unscrew oil pressure sender -F22-.
Installation
Installation in reverse order.
Note: Replace sealing ring. To avoid loss of oil, immediately screw a new oil pressure switch -F22- into the hole.
Check oil level.
Removing and installing oil pressure control valve N428-
Note: When installing, fasten all thermal insulation sleeves in their original positions.
Remove soundproof cover. Remove heat shields. Disconnect connector -1-. Remove screw -2- and remove oil pressure control valve -N428-.
Installation
Installation in reverse order. Replace sealing ring. Install soundproof cover.
Oil pressure check
The oil level in the engine is within normal limits, check, Engine oil temperature is at least 80°C (The radiator fan should turn on at least once). Remove low oil pressure sender -F378-. Screw the pressure gauge -VAG 1342- into the hole for the oil pressure sensor. Screw low oil pressure sender -F378- into hole on pressure gauge -VAG 1342- to plug hole. Start the engine. Oil pressure at idle; not less than 0.06 MPa (0.6 bar). Oil pressure at 2000 rpm: not less than 0.15 MPa (1.5 bar). Oil pressure at 4500 rpm: not less than 0.28 MPa (2.8 bar) If specification is not achieved: Check oil pressure control valve -N428-.
Note: Low oil pressure can also be caused by mechanical damage, such as bearings.
If no fault is found: Replace oil pump.
Checking low oil pressure sender -F378- (black)
Stop the engine, Connect the brown gauge wire to ground (-), Connect tester -VAG 1527 V- with auxiliary cables from the set -VAG 1594 C- to battery positive (+) and low oil pressure sender -F378-. The probe LED should be off. If the LED lights up, replace low oil pressure sender -F378-. If the LED is off: start the engine: when the pressure reaches 0.3...0.6 MPa (3...6 bar) the LED should light up, otherwise replace the oil pressure sensor.
Checking oil pressure sender -F22- (brown)
Stop the engine. Connect the voltage tester -VAG 1527V- to the battery positive using the auxiliary cables from the accessory measuring kit -VAG 1594 C- (+) and oil pressure sender -F22- (blue). The probe LED should be off. If the LED lights up, replace the oil pressure indicator switch -F22- If the LED does not light up: start the engine and increase the speed: when the pressure reaches 0.215.,.0.295 MPa (2.15.,.2.95 bar) the LED should light up, otherwise replace the oil pressure sensor. Install low oil pressure sender -F378-.
