General instructions for gearbox repair

The engine torque is transmitted via the flywheel to the dual clutch. The flywheel and dual clutch engage in toothed mesh with each other. Together, they perform the function of a dual mass flywheel. The gearbox is a 7-speed manual. Due to mutual hydraulic control, the two dry clutches work like an automatic gearbox. That is, the gears are shifted automatically or manually in tiptronic mode. There is no clutch pedal. When the ignition is off, both clutches are disengaged. First gear is engaged on gearshift mechanism 1, and reverse gear on gearshift mechanism 2. Important conditions for a flawless and successful gearbox repair are the utmost care and cleanliness, as well as impeccable tools. It goes without saying that when performing repair work, it is necessary to follow the generally accepted basic safety rules. A number of general, valid instructions for individual repair processes, usually given many times in the repair manual, are summarized here. They apply to the entire repair manual.
