KP
There is a hole in the gearbox housing - see arrow-.
Note: This hole is plugged with a protective cap. During installation work, make sure that nothing falls into this hole.
If the cover of the gearbox blocker is removed from the gearbox when parking or there is no oil in the box, do not start the engine and do not tow the vehicle. Always make sure that no dirt gets into "open" KP. Thoroughly clean the connection points and their surroundings first before disconnecting. When installing the gearbox, pay attention to the correct position of the balance bushings between the engine and the gearbox.
Cover over release levers
The lid protects against dirt. Fastening screw tightening torque: 8 Nm.
Mechatronic
Mechatronics is determined by the letter designation of the gearbox. "New" The gearbox mechatronic is already filled with oil at the factory, do not drain the oil. "Filmed" the mechatronic for the gearbox returns filled with oil (plug the vent hole with a suitable plug). When carrying out installation work, remove the plug of the mechatronics vent hole and plug the hole with a suitable plug. If oil leaks from the mechatronics, the mechatronics must be replaced.
Seals, O-rings, O-rings of circular cross-section
O-rings, O-rings and seals must always be replaced. After removing the seals, check the adjacent surfaces of the housings or shafts for burrs and damage and eliminate them. Before installing the radial shaft seal, lubricate the sealing lips and fill the spaces between them halfway with sealing compound -G 052 128 A1-. The open side of the radial shaft seal must point towards the oil. Lightly lubricate the O-rings with automatic transmission oil before installation to avoid damage to the rings during installation. Change gearbox oil after installation.
Locking parts
Retaining rings do not stretch, replace if necessary. The circlips must rest against the bottom of the groove.
Screws, nuts
Screws or nuts securing covers and crankcases should be loosened and tightened gradually in a cross pattern. Tightening torques are given for unlubricated screws and nuts. Clean the threads of screws that are tightened with locking means with a wire brush. Then screw in screws with locking means -AMV 185 101 A1-. All threaded holes into which screws with locking agent have been screwed must be cleaned with a tap to remove any remaining locking agent. Otherwise, there is a risk of the screws breaking during subsequent disassembly. Self-locking screws and nuts must always be replaced.
Electrical components
Touching metal objects can cause electrostatic discharge. The reason is the electrostatic charge of the human body. If the electrical components of the gearbox and the shift mechanism are touched, this electrostatic charge can lead to malfunctions. Before working on electrical components, touch a conductive, grounded object such as a water pipe or hoist. Do not touch the connector pins directly.
Guided Fault Finding
Before starting repair and restoration work on the gearbox, it is necessary to carry out troubleshooting using "Guided troubleshooting".
Cleanliness rules
Thoroughly clean connection points and their surroundings before disconnecting. Install only clean parts: Remove parts from packaging only immediately before installation. Always replace paper pads. Remove old gaskets completely and thoroughly clean sealing surfaces. Lay the removed parts on a clean lining and cover so that they do not get dirty. Apply film and paper. Do not use loose cloths! Opened or removed parts must be carefully closed or plugged unless repair work is carried out immediately.
