Removing
1. Disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to ground (corps) car.
2. Remove poly V-belt.
Vehicles with TDI engines with common rail injection system
3. Remove the top engine cover.
4. Remove the fuel filter, set it aside (do not disconnect hoses).
5. Remove the lower engine cover.
6. Remove the charge air hose and pipe.
Vehicles with TDI engines with common rail injection and 1.2/1.4 TSI
7. Remove the cooling fans.
8. Removing the A/C compressor (without disconnecting the coolant circuit), hang it on the side in such a way that it does not put excessive stress on the supply hoses.
9. On the 1.2 TSI engine, also remove the guide roller.
All cars
10. Blue with lock nut wire B+ (1) protective cap, unscrew the nut.
11. Disconnect plug connector (2), as shown in the figure below.
12. Unscrewing the lock nut (3.2 Nm) wire support bracket (3), put the wire aside.
13. Cars with an alternator fixed at the end (front surface) - unscrew the fastening screws (arrows), as shown in the figure below. Mounting screw tightening torque during installation: 23 Nm.
14. Cars with alternator fixed from the side - unscrew the fixing screws (arrows), as shown in the figure below. Mounting screw tightening torque during installation: 23 Nm.
Vehicles with TDI engines with common rail injection and 1.2/1.4 TSI
15. The alternator should be pulled down.
Other cars
16. The alternator should be removed in an upward direction.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of operations, and the following instructions must be observed:
Cars with an alternator fixed at the end - to facilitate installation, move the threaded bushings -A- by approximately 3 mm -arrows-.
Observe the tightening torque for fastening the B+ wire.
Observe the procedure for connecting the battery.
