Note: Although the pedal height is checked inside the vehicle, it is adjusted in the engine compartment. This procedure is much easier to perform if you involve an assistant in it.
1. Working in the cabin, measure the length of the brake pedal drive rod protruding from the bulkhead, that is, the distance from the metal of the bulkhead (as close as possible to the rubber boot) to the center of the pedal axle (see photo). The distance should be 84.5-86.5 mm.
2. If adjustment is necessary, go to the engine compartment and turn the threaded adjusting sleeve of the push rod of the vacuum booster unit in the desired direction (with double wrench), so as to achieve the correct pedal height (see photo).
3. Returning to the driver's seat, firmly depress the brake pedal several times, then recheck the pedal height.
4. If it was necessary to significantly change the position of the pedal in order to achieve correct installation, check the adjustment of the length of the clutch cable (see section 1) and position of the brake light switch (see chapter 26).
