Hinges and locks — check and lubrication (Skoda Favorit)

1. Lubricate the hood and door hinges.

2. Lightly coat the hood release mechanism with lithium grease.

3. The latches, strike plates and door locks should also be treated with lithium grease. Do not lubricate the steering column lock mechanism with mineral or any other grease that can short-circuit the ignition switch contacts: if the lock is tight, try introducing graphite powder into the mechanism.

4. Carefully check the reliability of the fastening and the operation of all hinges, latches and locks, adjust them if necessary.

5. Check the condition and operation of the tailgate supports, replacing them if they are leaking or unable to hold the tailgate in the raised position.
