1. Sealed type cooling system (pressure above atmospheric) includes a centrifugal water pump; cross flow aluminum radiator (equipped with plastic side tanks); a transparent expansion tank mounted on the inner panel of the left wing; thermally controlled electric fan mounted on the back of the radiator; thermostat, as well as connecting pipes and hoses. The drain plug of the cooling system is located in the downpipe (see photo). There is another drain plug - in the cylinder block, near the clutch housing on the side of the fuel pump.
2. The relative position of the system components and the direction of circulation of the coolant are shown in fig. 3.1.
Warning: Do not remove expansion tank filler cap or separate parts of the cooling system until the engine has cooled down. since there is a high probability of ejection of hot vapor and liquid. If for any reason the cap does come off, carefully depressurize the system. To do this, cover the lid with a thick, folded cloth and slowly unscrew it until you hear a hissing sound. When the hissing stops (pressure released), slowly unscrew the cap and remove it: if the hiss is heard again, stop and wait until it subsides. Keep your face away from the filler neck and protect your hands with gloves.
Warning: If antifreeze comes into contact with your skin or painted surfaces of your vehicle, immediately wash off spilled drops with plenty of water. Never leave antifreeze in an open container or spilled on the garage floor - the deadly poisonous liquid can attract children and pets with a pleasant smell.
Warning: If the engine is hot. The fan may operate even if the ignition is turned off. When working in the engine compartment, be careful to keep your hands, hair and clothing away from the fan blades.
